The format for the match will be as follows:
- Pairs betterball stableford matchplay
- Men play from the Yellow Tees & indices, Ladies from the Red Tees & indices
- Ladies' handicaps to be adjusted in accordance with WHS rules
- 85% handicap allowance
- Maximum playing handicaps of 28 for Men and 36 for Ladies
The stableford matchplay format will work in the following way:
- Each pair will calculate their best stableford score on each hole
- The hole is won if the best stableford score is better than their opponents, lost if it is worse and halved if it is the same
So that all matches finish at around the same time, all games should be played over the full 18 holes. The score will be recorded as either a point for one Club or a half rather than all pairs aggregate scores to count. However in the event the overall match is tied then the winning club will be decided by the aggregate total of holes won or lost across all matches.
As both courses will have full shotgun starts, it will be important to maintain a good pace of play. To do this, please follow these simple rules:
- Play ready golf - if you are ready to play and it is safe to do so, then play your shot
- Pick up if you cannot score - there is no need for everyone to hole out on every hole. If your playing partner already has the best score then you should pick your ball up straight away
- Lost balls - if your ball is lost in long rough, trees or bracken, you may drop a ball under penalty of one stroke at a convenient point near to where the ball is believed to be lost. Please note that this rule does not apply to balls that have been found but are considered unplayable
